I. Three years ago on the last day ofjanuary, I had a big problem. I can’t forget this day forever. The story beganwhen my uncle, my cousin, and I went to the desert. My uncle was the oldest at72 years old, but he was still strong. My cousin at that time was 10 years old,and I was 25 years old. All of us liked hunting. Usually we went hunting on theweekend, especially in winter, because winter is the hunting season. On the 25thof January, we decided to go hunting. All things were ready in the car, a RangeRover with four – wheel drive. We reached the place we were looking for at 5:15PM. First, we fixed the tent, then we made coffee and hea a few minutes ofrest. After that, we left to go on the hunt. We hunted using a falcon. Often,we hunt birds and rabbits. We spent two hours without finding anything. Wedecided to go back to the camp. On our way back, my cousin saw a rabbit. Hecried, “Raibbit!! Raibbit!!Quick” I took the falcon’s head cover and flung itoff aggressvely. When the rabbit saw the falcon, it ran fast, but my falcon wasa professional hunterr. He flew up and came down to trick the rabbit. After twominutes, the rabbit was caught. We ate the delicious food, drank Arabic coffee, and sat aroud the fire talking untl 10.30 P.M. Then we went to bed. We leftcamp the next day at 7 o’clock in the morning. We went north and found twokinds of birds and caught them. However, we faced trouble at 10.00A.M. becausethe car got stuck in the sand! We spent about three hours trying to pull outthe car without any progress. Finally, we decided to wald. I talked with myuncle about how hard it is for an old man or a young boy to walk mere than40km, in ther desert. He agreed with me. So I took a bottle of weter with meand started to walk south alone. I knew the way well, but it was a long way inthe sand. I walked more than four hours without stopping. I felt tired andthirsty. I drank all the water wich was in the bottle. I stopped to rest, sleeping around two hours. When I got up, darkness had covered the area. “Whatshould I do?” I asked myself. I continued to walk south. I was worried about myuncle and sousin, and they were worried about me also. Suddenly, I met abedouin man who was riding his camel. He took me to his house. When I had hadenough rest, I asked him to take me to the road and he did. After the, I founda car which took me to the city to get help. I had one day to get back to myuncle and cousin. When I got back to them, they were so happy because I hadgotten help and they were able to see me again. Eventually, I learned a lessonfrom this story, which was that the desert is very dangerous. Next time, whenwe go hunting, we must go in groups with two or more cars. If we go together,we can keep each other safe. We know the desert is dangerous, but we will neverquit hunting.

III. Having reached the highest point ofour route according to plan, we discovered something the map had not told us.It was impossible to climb down into theKingo valley. The riverlay deep between mountain sides that were almostvertical. We couldn’t find any animal tracks, which asually show the best wayacross country, and the slopes were covered so thickly with bushes that wecould not see the nature of the ground. We had somehow to break through to therirver which would give us our direction out of the mountains into theinhabited lowlands. Our guide cut a narrow path through the bushes with hislong knife and we followed in single file. Progress was slow. Then, When wethought we had really reached the river, we fornd ourselves instead on the adgeof a cliff with a straight drop of 1,000 feed to the water belew. We climbedback up the slope and began to look for another way down. We climbed, slipped, sweated and scratched our hands to pieces and finally arrived at the river.Happily we strode downhill along its bank without having to cut our way. However, after a few miles the river entered a steep – sided gap beween rocksand suddenly propped thirty – five feet over a waterfall. There was no pathalongside it and no way round it. Then one of the guides saw a way ofovercoming the difficulty. There was a fallen tree lying upside down over thewaterfall with its leafy top resting on the opposite bank below the falls.Without hesitation he climbed down the slipperty trunk to show us how easy itwas. Having got to the fork of the tree, he moved hand over hand along a branchfor four or five feet with his legs hanging in space, then he dropped onto theflat bank the other side, throwing his arms in the air like a footbller who hasscored a goal, and cheerfully waving us on

Elephants can destroy the crops of anentire village in a single night, and this also causes conflict.
