I. As a resultof years of research, we know that too much animal fat is bad for health, Forexample, Americans eat a lot of meat and only a small amount of grains, fruit,and vegetables. Because of their diet, they have high rates of cancer and heartdisease. In Japan,in contrast, people eat large amounts of grains and very little meat. TheJapanese also have very low rates of cancer and heart disease. In fact, theJapanese live longer than anyone else in the world. Unfortunately, whenJapanese people move to the United States, the rates of heart disease andcancer increase as their diet changes. III. Halloweenis one of the most famous holidays in the U.S., and it is on October 31. People carve pumpkins and make funny faces on them. These are called“Jack – O – Lanterns”. On October 31, children wear a special costume such as awitch, ghost, or clown. They go to many houses and they knock on the doorsaying, “Trick or Treat!” It means that if people don’t give them a treat, theywill play some kind of trick on the household. So, usually people give candy tothem. I carved my first Halloween pumpkin at my Friendship Family’s hous. First, I cut open the top of the pumpkin andpulled the seeds out. Is was not good for me because is was sticky and smelledbad. I had never carved a pumpkin, so it was interesting for me. Next, I carvedthe eyes and the mouth. I put a candle inside. It was very beautiful, so I washappy. I had a good experience because I learned one new idea about Americanculture by taking part in it. IV. GuglielmoMarconi was born in Italyin 1874. He studied in Bolognaand since his childhood, he showed great interest in physics and electricity.Basing his studies on Hertz’s findings, Marconi concluded that theelectromagnetic waves could transmit messages, so he conducted his research inthat direction. As Marconi did not get any financial incentives from theItalian government, he moved to England where he got funds for hisresearch. III. Havingreached the highest point of our route according to plan, we discoveredsomething the map had not told us. It was impossible to climb down into the Kingo valley.
